Economy Tarpaulins
Economy Tarpaulins have many uses. The most common of these uses is to keep things dry and protect them. They are used for things like temporary roof repair, general shelter, and to keep food and water protected from the elements.
Since they are basically waterproof tarpaulins can be placed over enclosures, over food and water bins, and over crates to keep things dry. On the night of a freeze they can be put over water troughs to keep them from freezing over. Once they are removed from the trough the animals can drink freely without having to crack the ice to get to the water.
They can be placed over the roof of an enclosure to temporarily fix leaks and fallen shingles. You can even use them as a more permanent roof under certain circumstances. If the tarpaulin is braced and secured properly it can make a roof for a small enclosure. This is easily replaceable and almost completely water proof.
They help keep warmth in when they are used to cover drafty places in a barn or loft. This lets horses, cattle, and other livestock rest more easily in the winter. They can be tide horizontally across stall doors and windows. Only do this if you are certain your livestock won't chew or eat the tarpaulin. If you are certain they won't try and eat it you can tie it over the spot where the draft is coming in to stop the wind.
Economy Tarpaulin structures can be constructed for temporary shelter of livestock during the hotter or colder months. If you use a small frame and tie the tarpaulin over the top of it it can provide shelter from the sun, rain, and cold.
There are many other uses for tarpaulins as well. They are a staple around the farm and house particularly if you live in an area prone to rain, or extreme weather. Whether you are using them to keep heat n or as shade for your animals always make sure your tarpaulin is secured safely and out of reach of animals that could chew on. Ingesting the coated portions of a tarpaulin can prove to be extremely harmful to most animals.
